Judge sues for $54 million over missing trousers

I've heard of some crazy judges before, but this one takes the craziness cake.

Apparently, an administrative law judge, a Mr. Roy L. Pearson is suing  Mr. and Mrs. Jin Chung, owners of Custom Cleaners for $54 million (originally $64 million) over the mental anguish caused over his lost pair of trousers.

This may sound totally fake, I mean this is the kinda thing you hope is fake, but I don't think the Washington Post is lying.

"[Pearson said his] problems began in May 2005 when he brought in several suits for alterations. A pair of pants from a blue and maroon suit was missing when he requested it two days later. He said Soo Chung tried to give him a pair of charcoal gray pants.

"As Pearson explained that those weren't the pants for the suit, he choked up and left the courtroom crying after asking Bartnoff for a break. "

Oh, give me a break. No one cries over a pair of pants. He's either acting to get a crapload of money, or he's a psychopath. In either case, someone like that shouldn't be in anyway involved with the leadership of the American justice system.

The couple who ran that dry cleaners ought to countersue for this being a completely bogus lawsuit, so they can get their lives back (as well as their legal fees.)

Anyways, is it just me or does this kinda smell like an episode of Seinfeld? With Pearson being a greedier version of Jackie Chiles.

RIP Steve Irwin

Rest in Peace, Steve Irwin 1962-2006

They just played an interview back that they had on CNN with him, and it really reminded me of what a great guy he was. He had such passion for what he did, and his efforts did a lot to educate as well as entertain, in his mission to bring animals into the hearts of people around the world. This is such a tragic loss, especially for his wife and two children, and we should keep them in our prayers during this difficult time.

We salute you, Steve, for bringing animals into the hearts of millions. You will be sorely missed.

Freedom Tower, New York City

Today, construction began on the Freedom Tower, the replacement for World Trade Towers destroyed on September 11th, 2001.

When completed, it will stand 1776 feet tall, and will be the tallest building in the United States, beating the Sears Tower by just 47 feet. At the very top of the tower will shine a light upward for about 1000 feet, standing as a pillar of hope and freedom, in the face of the terrorist attacks that happened ten years previously.

The new tower will also be one of the safest. The first 30 feet of the building will not have windows, and instead will house utilities and electronics for the building. There will be ultrawide emergency stairs as well as a special stairway reserved for firefighters and other emergency personnel, each with three-foot thick walls. There will also be chemical and biological filters present on the tower's ventilation system. Freedom Tower be positioned farther away from the street, and all windows facing the nearest street will be reinforced with blast-resistant plastic. Now that is one secure tower.
